You Are Loved
I don’t think I could have possibly picked a broader topic to cover today, but I also don’t think I could have picked a more important topic to cover.
I feel like the reason I haven’t written this post yet is because I honestly don’t even know where to begin. This is really what everything we believe in comes down to. You are loved. Let’s start at the very beginning. Creation. In the beginning God created male and female in His image and He blessed them (Genesis 1:26-28). Right there, our human hearts were created to love and be loved. We were created by God in His image and immediately we were loved by Him.
God designed us for relationship with Him. I was recently talking to a friend about this and was so blown away because I realized, our entire faith and everything we believe comes down to God creating us, desiring relationship with us, saving us, and making a way for us to have relationship with Him because He loves us so much.
Two of the questions I hear all the time are “If everything was so good in the garden, why did God allow sin and darkness into the world?” and, “Why does God allow bad things to happen to good people?” Here is the answer to both of those plain and simple, God desired relationship with us. He wanted us to love Him, and if we had no other choice it wouldn’t be real love. If Adam and Eve didn’t have the option to choose something other than relationship with God they would have been robots loving God because that was the only option, not because they genuinely loved Him. What kind of love is that? Its a forced love. It’s not the kind of love God has for us, the love He has for us is one He chose. He didn’t have to create us and He didn’t have to love us, but He chose to. And His desire was for us to choose Him back. But, we didn’t. And that is why there are hard things in this life. But here is where it gets even crazier. Even after we chose sin, God decided to continue choosing us. He decided to take all of the darkness and brokenness that our lives would now hold, and He chose to make it all beautiful. He chose to redeem us and to save us and to turn our ashes into beauty.
The entire Old Testament of the Bible is the story of God paving the way for His Son, Jesus to come into this earth and save us so that we could have a relationship with Him. The entire Bible is God’s love story about His relationship with us. I know I just keep hammering this in. But its so beyond true.
We are created for love. Our hearts are designed to love and be loved, which is why so many of us spend our lives striving for love whether that be in a friendship, a relationship, or a family situation, we long for love and we will go to crazy lengths to get it.
But here is the deal. Your heart has been fought for since the beginning of time. It has been loved. Jeremiah 31:3 says “Behold I have loved you with an everlasting love, with lovingkindness I have drawn you.” Its probably my favorite verse ever because it trumps everything this world can offer. There is no human being on this earth that can offer you everlasting love. Only Jesus can do that, and He already has.
You are loved.
Love, Love, Love you all,
Sarah Paige xoxo
